Kick Off Activity- Wednesday August 31st:
I would like you to pull out the yellow string and the red heart from your envelope. The heart is a reminder of how we will pray for others intentions, how we will come together as a school family, and how blessed we are to have so much support for our marathon. Place the heart on the yellow string.
Find the bridge in your envelope. You are building relationships between the school and all those you ask for support in the marathon. Your neighbors, friends, family, businesses, and all the members of our church are building a strong bridge to our school by supporting our marathon. Reach out to all our community and be a bridge for our school, show them with your kindness and thankfulness. Place the bridge on the yellow string.
SHOW ME THE MONEY! There is no individual goal only one goal of $50,000. This is a reminder we have a lot of work to do. If we ASK we will receive money from our family, friends, parishioners, and our local businesses. We WILL raise this money with everyone’s hard work and positive support. Place the money on the yellow string.
Next is the rubber band, the marathon goal may feel like a big stretch for many of you. This rubber band reminds us that we need EVERYONE to stretch out of our comfort zone and ask businesses to support us so write a sweet letter and deliver it with a big smile to all our businesses asking for their support. It’s very important to ask God to help all of us on this journey. We must pray when we feel stretched and trust God will support us! You can say the Marathon Prayer when you need support. Stretch for success! Place the rubber band on the string.
NOW, take the left hand out of your envelope and raise your left hand high in the air and give a big "Wupp, Wupp" in celebration of all our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, extended family, parishioners, and businesses who have supported our school marathon in the past. Let me hear your "Wupp, Wupp" with your left hand raised! Place the hand on the string.
*Finally, take out your #1 sign. We LOVE our Friday rallies!!!! We celebrate our success, read our intentions, participate in fun activities and play our Step by Step Song. Remember we are all #1 in God’s eyes! Put the #1 sign on your string.
Now, tie the yellow string together. Remember when you come to school this month, bring your pledges! If your family is forgetful, tie this yellow string around your finger reminding you to bring in your marathon pledges any day in September.
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."
